Nursing and midwifery leadership

The Nursing and Midwifery Office is committed to the development and enhancement of leadership skills for all levels of nurses and midwives.

The nursing and midwifery strategic direction priorities focus on enabling workforce excellence, leading and driving health care sustainability and delivering care continuity - underpinned by the values of care, respect, excellence, integrity, teamwork and leadership. We are committed to delivering great care by extending the capacity and capabilities of nursing and midwifery to achieve and embed a culture of performance.

Initiatives to support this include Scholarships, Fellowships, the Leading Great Care program, the Leading Great Care Alumni, Nursing and Midwifery Mentoring Network, and leadership masterclasses held throughout the year.

Leading Great Care is a successful program that was developed with Senior Registered Nurses/Midwives (SRN level 3) and above in mind. We continue to partner with the University of Notre Dame Australia in Fremantle to provide participants with a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management.

The Nursing and Midwifery Mentoring Network supports nurses and midwives across the career span to grow in skills, confidence and to increase their professional network. Mentors may be experienced within the nursing and midwifery professions, or from another profession of health.
