Palliative Care

Palliative care can improve the quality of life of individuals, including their family/carer, facing problems associated with a life-threatening illness or condition, through the prevention and relief of suffering.

Palliative care recognises the person and the importance and uniqueness of their family/carer and serves to maximise the quality of life. It considers physical, social, financial, emotional, and spiritual distress, such distress not only influences the experience of having a life-limiting illness but also influences treatment outcomes.
