Expressions of Interest – Members and Deputy Members Human Research Ethics Committee

The Department of Health Human Research Ethics Committee has a special responsibility for the ethical oversight of the use and disclosure of health information held by the Department. The Committee reviews research applications and provides ethical advice to the Department.

In accordance with the Committee’s Terms of Reference (section 7), applications are sought from suitably qualified individuals for the following member roles:

  • Lay male person who has no affiliation with the Department and is not currently involved in medical, scientific, legal or academic work.*
  • Professional Care with knowledge of, and current experience in, the professional care, counselling, or treatment of people.
  • WA Health Representative with knowledge of and current experience in the management and uses of statewide health data collections who is employed by the WA health system.

The Committee meets monthly at the Department’s East Perth office. Members also need to commit time to prepare for each meeting.

Appropriate remuneration is available for Committee members in accordance with government policy. Deputy members are appointed when the relevant members are unable to attend meetings.

All applications will be held on file for 18 months and considered should any vacancies arise during this time. Applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
