Graduates ready to take the next step

The 2017 Graduate Development Program participants were honoured at a graduation ceremony held at the Department of Health on Friday 12 January.

Graduates were awarded their certificate of completion by Angela Kelly A/Director General who commended each graduate on their achievement.

The 2017 program comprised four streams across the WA health system, with graduates completing placements in Finance and Business, General Corporate, Information and Communication Technology and Workforce Data Analysis.

Nearly 50 projects across the Perth Metropolitan area were completed by the graduates, with one completing a regional placement in the South West.

Mariette Luitjens addressed the audience with highlights from throughout the year, and the valuable opportunities the program provided such as networking, training and development and mentorship from senior staff.

“One important lesson from this year is that your ability to demonstrate leadership is not based on your position, age or experience, these are not skills for one day down the track, we can use them to initiate change now. Coming into such a large organisation can be daunting, but just remember if you think you are too small to be effective then just imagine being in a room with a mosquito!”

The ceremony was attended by senior executives, staff and past graduates from across WA Health.

Congratulations to the graduates, and thank you to the Mentors, Buddies, Supervisors and Executives involved in enriching the graduates’ experience and development throughout the year.
