Midwives of Western Australia, we salute you

The theme of International Day of the Midwife on Thursday 5 May is "Women and Newborns: The Heart of Midwifery".

The internationally recognised day acknowledges the hard work of midwives to ensure women receive safe, quality care, and the vital role the profession plays in the improvement of global health outcomes.

In addition to their work caring for women during and after childbirth, midwives provide a wide range of assistance, including advancing women’s and girls’ rights, care in humanitarian emergencies, training and supervision, and counselling services on family planning and reproductive health.

WA Health's Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer Karen Bradley would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Western Australian midwives for the enormous contribution they make to the care of mothers and babies across our State.
