Elizabeth Quay is joining many landmarks and iconic buildings across the city in again turning pink throughout the month of October to support awareness for the need to continue research into breast cancer.
Known worldwide as Global Illuminations, the pink glow coincides with one of the biggest fundraising events in Perth, with a breakfast on Tuesday 11 October set to raise $100,000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation research.
Perth businesswoman Jenny Rogers, Chair of the Perth Global Illumination Committee, said that the research funds would help the Foundation move towards its goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
“We’re excited to see the City of Perth, Parliament House, Notre Dame, and many Western Australian organisations get behind Global Illumination again in 2016,” she said.
“Perth continues to be one of the main cities in the world to embrace a pink blush in October as part of an awareness and fundraising effort for breast cancer.
“It’s well worth a drive through the city, up to Parliament House and over the Narrows Bridge to the Old Mill to take in the amazing pink blaze of lights.
“Our fundraising breakfast is such a success because of the support that it receives from many corporations, such as Singapore Airlines, Crown Resorts, Novotel Ningaloo, Private Stays, and dozens of smaller organisations who have donated goods and services.”
