The interactive playroom at the new Telethon Children's Ward in Joondalup Hospital
3 June 2016
The new Telethon Children’s Ward at the Joondalup Health Campus has officially opened in front of 50 invited guests and 200 tropical fish courtesy of the large fish tank featured in the wall of the ward’s interactive playroom.
The new ward consists of 37 new beds including a 10-bed Day Procedure Unit all designed around forest and ocean themes. Children will have access to interactive displays and video games and a host of other fun activities to ensure their hospital stay is as pleasant as can be.
It also caters for the needs of parents, many of whom are understandably overwhelmed being in hospital with a sick or injured child. Each room includes a day bed where parents can more comfortably rest.
Valued at just under $15 million the ward was funded through the State Government, Telethon and Ramsay Health Care and will give increased access and care closer to home for local children.
