Two highly respected WA Health nurses took out the highest honours in the 2016 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards at a gala dinner on Saturday 7 May.
Dr Susan Slatyer, Research Fellow at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Curtin University, was named WA Nurse/Midwife of the Year, while Adjunct Associate Professor Violet Platt was inducted to the nursing and midwifery hall of fame.
Dr Slatyer also won the Excellence in Research category and Ms Platt, based at the Department of Health, received the Lifetime Achievement Honour for her remarkable contribution to cancer nursing over the past 30 years.
Fifteen outstanding nurses and midwives from across Western Australia won awards, acknowledging their outstanding contribution to the nursing and midwifery professions throughout the State.
