WA Health is reporting two new COVID-19 cases today.
Two females, one in her 20s and the other in her teens, have arrived from overseas and are in hotel quarantine.
The State’s total is now 1061. To date, 1048 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
WA Health is monitoring four active COVID-19 cases: three in hotel quarantine and one in hospital – a crew member from the MV Darya Krishna, who remains in a critical but stable condition.
A second crew member from the MV Darya Krishna, who was readmitted to hospital for management of ongoing symptoms, is now clear of COVID but will remain hospitalised.
Testing clinics
Yesterday, 874 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. A list of all testing clinics is available on the HealthyWA website. To date, there have been 1,586,900 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 189,369 were from regional WA.
Vaccination
Western Australians aged 16 years and above are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination at WA Health clinics.
This is the first opportunity for people aged between 16 to 29 to get vaccinated at State-run clinics. People in this age group can now start booking their vaccination appointment. Visit rollup.wa.gov.au, create a profile and then make an appointment.
People are encouraged to keep checking the website for appointment availability.
Individuals aged 12 years and over with underlying medical conditions; those who live in remote communities; or who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are also eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
This change in eligibility coincides with WA's two-week vaccination blitz, where it is expected more than 160,000 vaccine doses will be administered over the fortnight.
To support this blitz and the vaccination program rollout, a new community vaccination clinic at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre opens to the public today.
From today until August 29, the clinic will open from 8.30am to 6.00pm seven days a week. From August 30, the clinic will open from 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday through Saturday.
Another clinic is due to open on September 6 at Midland's Centrepoint Shopping Centre.
During today (16 August) 47,981 Western Australians aged 16 to 29 years booked a vaccination appointment.
More than 30,000 Western Australians aged 30 to 39 years have booked a vaccination appointment since 3 August.
Since vaccination numbers were reported on Friday, 46,537 vaccine doses were recorded in WA, of which 26,282 were second doses. The total includes 5,584 were historic vaccine doses*. These figures represent vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses administered through the Commonwealth rollout**.

Border controls
Effective immediately, all passengers arriving into Western Australia from Northern Territory are required to get tested immediately (within 48 hours) and isolate until they have received a negative result.
Any passenger who refuses to get tested will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Anyone who has been at the listed NT exposure venues on the dates and time specified are required to self-quarantine for 14 days and be tested immediately (within 48 hours) and again at day 11.
Anyone from the Darwin and Katherine areas who did not visit the venues and has arrived from August 12 to 16 is advised to get tested if they develop any symptoms that may be related to COVID-19.
WA will transition New South Wales to high risk at 12.01am tomorrow.
The Australian Capital Territory and Queensland are at medium risk (external site), while South Australia is assessed as low risk (external site).
Tasmania is considered very low risk (external site).
Variants
To date, 124 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 55 Delta strain.
