COVID-19 update 9 April 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 6,566 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 44,819 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 236 people with COVID-19 in hospital, eight in ICU.

Today’s report includes three historical deaths dating back to 2nd of April, which were reported to WA Health yesterday. The three historical deaths are three men in their 50s.

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department on these deaths.

Notes:

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (240) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 6,566 cases, 2,563 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 4,003 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total 11,457 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 241,459 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
