COVID 19 update 23 March 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 8,429 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 40,695 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 194 people with COVID-19 in hospital, nine in ICU.

Sadly, a male in his nineties with COVID-19 has passed away on Monday but was reported to WA Health yesterday. Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department on this death.

Notes:

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (328) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the cases, 3,750 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 4679 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total 17,552 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 107,870 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
