COVID-19 update: 19 May 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 17,105 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 88,781 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 300 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 10 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes six deaths which were reported to WA Health yesterday. The deaths date back to 16th of May and include two women and a man in their 90s; a woman in her 80s; a man in his 70s; and a woman in her 40s.

Due to confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department.

Notes

1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.

2. The remainder of daily cases reported (185) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 17,105 cases, 6,033 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 11,072 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 16,799 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 609,598 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
