COVID-19 update 8 May 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 8,747 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 55,020 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 281 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 8 in ICU. 

Sadly, today’s report includes 1 death dating back to the 3rd of May, reported to WA Health yesterday; a man in in this 60’s.

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department.

Notes
1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
2. The remainder of daily cases reported (104) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 8,747 cases, 2,907 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 5,840 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total 9,389 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 451,192 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
