Use of the State Government Badge Policy (Revision)

All WA Health communication materials are required to display the State Coat of Arms as a key element of the Department of Health State Government Badge. The State Government Badge combines the State Coat of Arms with the agency name, ‘Department of Health’.

The State Government Badge is not to be digitally altered, adapted or changed in any way. It should not be used as a watermark or overprinted with words or designs, nor should it be placed on top of words or designs. Wherever practicable, the State Government Badge should be placed at the top left hand corner of any page, signage or electronic document and should never be used at less than 15 mm wide, measured across the Coat of Arms.

In some instances, communication materials that are produced and published by WA Health may also display (co-badge) the logos of other government department or external stakeholder organisations. In such instances, the State Government Badge should be the visually more prominent logo.

Under no circumstances should the Department of Health State Government Badge be supplied to external (non-government) organisations for display on those organisations’ communication materials.

A Locked State Coat of Arms device has been developed for external organisations to display when it is appropriate to demonstrate that the State Government is a “Partner” or “Supporter” in the provision of services/projects/goods/events delivered by third parties that are not State Government agencies. Use of the “locked” device is covered in Operational Directive 0652/16.

These rules apply across the State Government, as stipulated in the Premier’s Circular 2013/02 – Use of WA State Government Badge by Public Sector Agencies. Guidelines for applying these rules are available on the Department of Premier and Cabinet website at www.commonbadge.dpc.wa.gov.au.
