The Dental Technicians Industrial Agreement 2015 sets out that Dental Health Services will from time to time conduct trade tests to assess the suitability of Dental Technicians to progress to the classification of a Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 and for Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 to progress to Dental Technician Advanced Level 2.
A Dental Technician may apply, to undertake the applicable trade test, to progress to the classification of Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 after not less than 12 months service as a Dental Technician Year 2.
A Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 may apply, to undertake the applicable trade test, to progress to the classification of Dental Technician Advanced Level 2 after not less than 12 months service as a Dental Technician Advanced Level 1.
Direct appointments at the classifications Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 and Dental Technician Advanced Level 2 are generally not made.
Dental Health Services may recognise prior related work experience and certification of competencies for the purposes of making a probationary appointment to Dental Technician Advanced Level 1 and Dental Technician Advanced Level 2. The terms of appointment will provide for the applicable trade test to be undertaken within a specified period and that employment will end if competency to the required level is not demonstrated.
