Emergency Department Data Collection and Reporting Policy - No Longer Applicable – Superseded by MP 0164/21 – 1 July 2021

Applicable to: This Policy is applicable to all Health Service Providers that have an Emergency Department. To the extent that the requirements contained within this Policy are applicable to the services purchased from contracted health entities, Health Service Providers are responsible for ensuring these requirements are accurately reflected in the relevant contract and managed accordingly.


The purpose of this Policy is to ensure the integrity of the collection and reporting of Emergency Department data across the WA health system. 

Emergency Department data informs and supports system performance management, health service planning, clinical governance, clinical research, national reporting and funding within the WA health system.

This Policy is a mandatory requirement under the Information Management Policy Framework pursuant to section 26(2)(k) of the Health Services Act 2016.

This Policy supersedes OD 0205/09 Emergency Department and Emergency Services Patient – Level Data Collection and Reporting Policy.
