Data Stewardship and Custodianship Policy

Applicable to: This policy is part of the Information Management Policy Framework and is binding upon, every Health Service Provider and its staff members. The policy also applies to Contracted Health Entities to the extent that the Contracted Health Entities provide health services to the State. It also includes the Department of Health. This covers any person working in a permanent, temporary, casual, contracted, termed appointment or honorary capacity.

Description: The Data Stewardship and Custodianship Policy ensures that data is collected for a legitimate purpose, managed appropriately and only disclosed for an approved purpose. This is achieved through the allocation of Data Stewards and Custodians to data collections within WA Health and documenting how they are appointed and their roles and responsibilities.
