Protocol For Non-Occupational Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (NPEP) To Prevent HIV In Western Australia

PURPOSE: The purpose of this Operational Directive is to clarify the appropriate use and methods of access to Non-occupational Post-exposure Prophylaxis (NPEP) in the Department of Health WA sites and institutions.  It should be read in conjunction with Standard and Additional Infection Control Precautions (Operational Circular OP 2039/06) and Management of Occupational Exposure to Blood and Body Fluids in the Health Care Setting (Operational Circular OP 1803/04).  It supersedes Operational Circular OP 1946/05.  It supports the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing’s National Guidelines for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis after
