Referral to Emergency Department
If any of the following are present or suspected, please refer the patient to the emergency department (via ambulance if necessary) or seek emergency medical advice if in a remote region:
- Status epilepticus/epilepsy with concerning features:
- Focal deficit post-ictally
- Seizure associated with recent trauma
- Persistent severe headache > 1 hour post-ictally
- Seizure with fever
- Seizure without known history of seizure disorder
- Prolonged post-ictal period
- Seizures due to substance withdrawal
