Research Institute Support

Overview

The Research Institute Support (RIS) scheme was established by the Department of Health in 2014/15 to provide research infrastructure support to eligible health and medical research institutes in Western Australia. The RIS support is in addition to that provided via the Medical and Health Research Infrastructure Fund (MHRIF).

RIS funding is distributed to eligible research institutes based on each institute’s success in obtaining nationally or internationally competitive, peer-reviewed research grant income, as measured using data gathered during the MHRIF process. In this manner, available RIS funds are allocated on the basis of competitive research excellence.

Funding round status

Applications from research institutes are not required for the RIS scheme as calculation of funding will be based on applications submitted to the MHRIF. Further details about MHRIF, including funding round status and application forms and guidelines, are now located on the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund website.
