Residential Care Line

The Residential Care Line (RCL) provides residential aged care facilities (RACF) with access to:

  • a triage and advice telephone line service – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • a specialist nurse outreach service – 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week.

A primary aim of the service is to provide assessment, care and advice that enables residents to receive required care at their aged care facility rather than be transferred to hospital. The RCL works collaboratively with the Silver Chain Home Hospital (external link) ensuring residents of aged care facilities receive timely assessment and clinical support.

The RCL also delivers education to RACF staff on a case-by-case basis and through structured education sessions.

A geriatrician provides leadership and medical expertise to the RCL program.

There is no charge for this service.
