NurseWest is a part of the Western Australian Department of Health and offers nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing the opportunity to join a government temporary nursing or midwifery staff pool.

NurseWest offers casual shifts and short term placementsin all public metropolitan hospitals and community health services across the state including rural and remote hospitals and health services.

Our vision

To be the leader in the provision of quality nursing and midwifery services.

Our mission

Deliver value in providing quality nursing, midwifery and assistant in nursing services to WA Health.

What we do

NurseWest operates on a casual pool basis. We match the employee skills, preferences and availability with the health site's requirements.

If NurseWest is unable to fill a position with its own staff, it will source staff form private agencies on a tender panel to provide cost effective temporary personnel nursing/midwifery/assistant in nursing services for WA Health.

NurseWest also plays an important role in WA Health’s Disaster Management Plan for the placement and movement of temporary nursing and midwifery staff.

Read the NurseWest CasualMATTERS Newsletter to learn more about opportunities and issues facing the casual nursing and midwifery workforce.
