COVID-19 update – 9 August 2020

The Department of Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 in Western Australia overnight.

The State’s total stands at 642.

There are four active cases in the State – two Western Australians, one from interstate and one from overseas.

To date, 629 confirmed cases have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 409 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics – 403 were assessed and 400 were swabbed.

Visit WA Health’s HealthyWA website for the latest information on COVID-19.

Note: WA has changed the way cases of COVID-19 are reported, bringing WA reporting closer into line with other Australian jurisdictions.

Daily reporting will now include only confirmed cases diagnosed by nose and throat swabs.

Historical cases (diagnosed through a blood test and indicative of infection in the past) are no longer infectious and present no risk to the community. Historical cases have been removed from the State total. The Department will continue to publish historic cases on its website.

An updated breakdown of cumulative COVID-19 tests performed in WA will be released on Monday.
