WA Health is reporting no new COVID-19 cases today.
The State’s total remains at 1059. To date, 1046 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
WA Health is monitoring four active COVID-19 cases: two in hotel quarantine, one quarantining at home and one in hospital – a crew member from the MV Darya Krishna, who remains in a critical but stable condition.
People are encouraged to attend the Broome COVID clinic for testing after the state’s wastewater surveillance program detected weak traces of the virus in the area last week.
While the finding does not necessarily indicate there is a positive case in the community, anyone with even the mildest of symptoms is urged to get tested as soon as possible as a precaution. They are also encouraged to book their COVID vaccination.
Repeat testing of wastewater in Broome has resulted in no detections. Tests will now revert to weekly.
WA Health continues to monitor close and casual contacts of a WA FIFO worker who was a casual contact of a Queensland traveller at Perth Airport on 20 July. The traveller, who was refused entry to WA, returned to Queensland where he subsequently tested positive to COVID-19.
Of the 3192 close and casual contacts identified to date, 2320 have so far tested negative to COVID-19.
Anyone who visited an exposure location during the exposure periods is required to get tested immediately and self-quarantine until a negative result is received.
Testing clinics
Yesterday, 692 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. A list of all testing clinics is available on the HealthyWA website. To date, there have been 1,568,340 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 187,740 were from regional WA.
Vaccination
More than 17,500 Western Australians aged 30 to 39 years old have registered and booked a COVID vaccination appointment since the program was reopened to them on 3 August 2021.
People in this age group who haven’t been able to book a vaccination are encouraged to visit rollup.wa.gov.au, create a profile and then make an appointment.
Yesterday, 20,259 people had a vaccine dose recorded – 12,034 of those were second doses. These figures represent vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Commonwealth rollout.

Border controls
Western Australia has assessed New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria as medium risk (external site) states. The Australian Capital Territory is low risk (external site). The Northern Territory and Tasmania are considered very low risk (external site).
Variants
To date, 124 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 55 Delta strain.
