The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight – a female in her 40s – who is in hotel quarantine after returning from overseas travel.
The State’s total number now stands at 967.
WA Health is monitoring 17 active cases of COVID-19 and 941 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 75,837 COVID-19 vaccinations. Yesterday, 1792 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 393 people were assessed for testing at WA Health COVID clinics, with 393 swabbed.
To date, 47 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 34 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 12 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).
Update on vessel Aquagenie:
The captain of the Aquagenie (male in his 60s) was removed from the vessel late yesterday and transferred to Karratha Health Campus where he was assessed. Overnight, he was transferred to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in an isolation ward and is being monitored.
The vessel departed at 8.15pm last night for Manila after all remaining crew were found to be well.

Note: The cases of variant strains reported above are not new cases. Genome sequencing – to define the strain of the virus – is a separate laboratory process carried out after someone tests positive to COVID-19. All cases, regardless of strain, are managed by WA’s public health experts. The strains previously reported as the UK variant strain and South African variant strain will now be referred to as B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 respectively.
