COVID-19 update 27 October 2021

WA Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total remains at 1112. To date, 1102 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

As of last night, WA Health was monitoring one active COVID-19 case in hotel quarantine.

Testing clinics

Yesterday, 472 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. To date, there have been 1,855,889 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 214,812 were in regional WA.

COVID-19 vaccinations*

Since vaccination numbers were reported yesterday, 25,065 COVID-19 vaccine doses were recorded in WA – 14,152 of these were second doses. The total includes 4,817 historic COVID-19 vaccine doses*. These figures represent COVID-19 vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Commonwealth rollout**.

Appointments are no longer required at State-run clinics in metropolitan Perth and regional areas.

Vaccination information:

• New and expanded COVID-19 vaccination clinics have opened or will open soon including:
  • pop-up clinics at select Bunnings stores, opening 6-7 November;
  • Carramar Village Shopping Centre and Herb Graham Recreation Centre, Mirrabooka opened Monday (October 25);
  • Armadale Central Shopping Centre and The Square, Mirrabooka (appointments are preferred but not required);
  • Perth Airport for FIFO workers; and
  • drop-in appointments for everyone aged 12 years at all WA clinics.
• Western Australian children aged 12 to 15 years are eligible for a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination (external site). Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit rollup.wa.gov.au (external site) to register and book appointments for their children in this age group.
• There are many regional COVID-19 vaccination clinics open across WA, all with drop-in options.

Mandatory vaccinations apply to the following workers based on the latest public health advice. Further details are available online.

• Health care workers
• FIFO and other resource sector workers
• Dunsborough school leavers
• Freight, transport and logistics workers
• Port workers who board or work with exposed vessels.

Directions are being drafted to make vaccinations mandatory for most occupations and workforces in Western Australia.

Border controls

Queensland Update

Queensland has transitioned to a ‘very low risk’ jurisdiction from 12:01am, Wednesday 27 October, under WA’s controlled border arrangement.

This followed a short pause in Queensland’s border transition last week due to a case of COVID-19 and is based on the latest public health advice.

Travellers from Queensland will be permitted to enter WA without quarantine requirements, but will be subject to the following conditions:

• complete a G2G Pass declaration which states they do not have any
  COVID-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions they have been to in the previous 14 days

• undergo a health screening upon arrival in WA.

Variants

* Historic vaccine doses are vaccinations that were administered up to 10 days before the current date but were recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register since the last report.

** WA vaccination data for the WA COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard is sourced from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). AIR is a national register maintained by the Australian Government that records all vaccines given to all people in Australia. WA data includes all COVID-19 vaccinations in WA, whether administered by WA Health, Australian Government providers or other providers (including GPs). WA previously reported only WA Health data.
