COVID-19 update 8 April 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 6,892 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 46,022 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 243 people with COVID-19 in hospital, six in ICU.

Today’s report includes two historical deaths dating back to 4th of April, which were reported to WA Health yesterday. The two historical deaths are two women in their 80s.

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department on these deaths.

Please note – the WA total of 235,084 cases includes 1110 RAT cases not previously reported to WA Health’s system, which date as far back as 11 March 2022.

This relates to an online portal which Catholic Education WA (CEWA) uses to assist in contact tracing with its schools. A misunderstanding from some people using the on-line portal, not also reporting positive RAT results to WA Health. Cases and contacts involved followed the Public Health advice.

There was no public health impact as a result of this data matter.
