All clear for Drakesbrook Weir algae bloom

The Department of Health has lifted a recent warning to avoid recreational activities in Lake Moyanup (Drakesbrook Weir) due to a blue-green algae bloom.

Recent water tests have confirmed that cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) levels at the lake had returned to levels which mean that swimming, wading, fishing, canoeing and other recreational activities can now be undertaken safely.

The Water Corporation and the Shire of Waroona will continue to monitor the area and provide advice to the Department of Health on algal activity levels in this location.

Further information regarding algal blooms is available on the Department’s consumer website at http://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/A_E/Algal-blooms-monitoring.
