Teenagers 'Get the Facts' in sexual health and relationship quiz

WA Health has launched a new quiz on its Get the Facts website for young people.

Quiz Quest takes young people on a journey through a fantasy-themed land where they are quizzed about topics related to sexual health and relationships.

WA Health sexual health and blood-borne virus program manager Lisa Bastian said the quiz was designed to improve knowledge of sexual health and relationships among young people in Western Australia.

“The quiz is divided into four gaming modules where gamers must undertake a unique quest,” Ms Bastian said.

“Each module is focussed on a sexual health or relationship topic, specifically – bodies, relationships, safe sex and sexual transmitted infections.

“Research buttons provide the user with additional information to help them answer questions and solve each quest – allowing them to learn about sexual health and relationships unobtrusively and at their own pace.”

Targeted at young people aged 13-17, Quiz Quest will be promoted via popular gaming websites during the April school holidays.

Information on the quiz will also be provided to secondary schools for Term 2 to assist teachers to educate students on relationships and sexual health.

“Quiz Quest has been designed to be visually appealing and engaging for young people,” Ms Bastian said.

“It will be an important addition to the Get the Facts website, which provides young people with access to accurate, objective and informative information on sex, relationships, puberty, body art and sexually transmitted infections.”
