WA Health shines in Australian of the Year roll call

Congratulations to the four WA Health finalists in the 2020 Australian of the Year Awards.

They are:

• Australian of the Year
  
  • Surgeon and State Director of Trauma, Sudhakar Rao (external site)
  • Cancer surgeon and researcher Christobel Saunders (external site)
• Senior Australian of the Year
  
  • Obstetrician and researcher John Newnham (external site)
• Young Australian of the Year
  
  • Medical student Yarlalu Thomas (external site)

The four are among a group of 16 finalists, from which a representative will be chosen for Western Australia for the Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Western Australia Local Hero awards.

While the winner of each category will be announced in Canberra on Australia Day next year, WA’s representatives will be announced at a special function at Government House on Thursday.
