$3.5 million to aid child health research

More than $3.5 million will be shared amongst 13 WA research projects in the sixth round of the Telethon Perth Children's Hospital Research Fund (TPCHRF).

The TPCHRF is a collaboration between the Department of Health and Channel 7 Telethon Trust that provides funding for WA research activities which focus on the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents.

Projects that will benefit from the latest round of funding include:

  • the trial of a world-first intervention for young children at risk of autism
  • the investigation of a peptide that has been identified as having the potential to protect the brains of infants who have experienced a stroke-like event around the time of birth.
