The inaugural outpatient clinics signal the start of a staged opening for Perth Children's Hospital, with the full transfer of services and patients from Princess Margaret Hospital taking place over the next four weeks.

Also up and running from today is the hospital's cutting-edge medical imaging suite, making children's diagnostic scans safer, faster, more effective and more accessible than ever before.

Perth Children's Hospital has the latest high-resolution technology, including Western Australia's only intraoperative iMRI. This can provide 3D images of patients while they are in theatre undergoing surgery.

The child-friendly medical imaging department also features colourful wall murals and entertainment projectors to help young patients relax. It is conveniently located on the ground floor with a private entry from the adjacent emergency department.

Families are reminded to check their appointment letters during the staged opening of Perth Children's Hospital to ensure they attend the correct hospital.

Emergency cases should be taken to Princess Margaret Hospital until 7am on Sunday June 10, when the new emergency department at Perth Children's Hospital opens.
