Events and public buildings

COVID-19 State of Emergency Declarations:

Please refer to the current Directions related to prohibited gatherings, restriction of activities and closure of affected places.

Basic precautions can prevent the majority of serious incidents and deaths that occur in and around buildings and open spaces.

Building legislation provides minimum construction standards, but how buildings are used is a critical factor for public safety.

In Western Australia the principal legislation is the Health Act 1911 Part VI (external site) and the Health (Public Buildings) Regulations 1992 (external link).
