Contaminated strawberries, Western Australia

The Department of Health is aware that the WA Police Force is investigating an incident from a member of the public about a possible local strawberry punnet contamination case.

This is in addition to the contamination case being investigated by South Australia Police, of Western Australian grown strawberries which were sold in SA.

The Department is currently working with local government authorities, police and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to investigate these local cases.

The Department of Health WA is now also involved in the nationwide investigation and response to these incidents.

The Department of Health advises that you can still purchase and eat locally grown strawberries but, in light of recent events, you should cut them before eating.
