COVID-19 update – 29 March 2020

The Department of Health has reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State’s total to 311.

Of these new cases, 28 are from metropolitan Perth and five are from regional Western Australia.

The age of the cases ranged from 19 to 88 years old.

The confirmed regional cases include one each from the South West, Great Southern, Wheatbelt, Goldfields and Kimberley.

Of these new cases 16 cases reported overseas travel and seven from cruise ships – Ruby Princess (3 cases), Artania (3) and Voyager of the Seas (1).

The rest of the cases were mainly close contacts – five close contacts of someone who was positive. Five are healthcare workers.

There are currently 20 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with eight in ICU.

The number of recovered cases in WA is now 28.

To date, 13,337 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19 – 1,771 of these are from regional WA.
