9 March 2016

On 30 March 2015 the former Acting Director General of Health Professor Bryant Stokes, requested the Chief Psychiatrist conduct a review of five suspected suicides by volunteers and paramedics who were staff of St John Ambulance and to produce a report of his findings with any recommendations.

The scope of the Chief Psychiatrist’s Review was limited to considering the factors contributing to these deaths and specifically considering the requirements of their role as first responder, which may have contributed to their deaths.
