The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health service in Australia, covering 2.5 million square kilometres. WACHS is committed to providing a quality health care workforce and accessible health services to the regional population.
Across its 70 hospitals WACHS handles almost as many emergency presentations as hospitals in the metropolitan area combined and almost as many births as the State’s major maternity hospital. There are a number of smaller health centres and nursing posts as well as Indigenous health, population health, mental health and aged care services.
WACHS consists of seven administrative regions supported by the central office in Perth.
They are the Kimberley, Pilbara, Midwest, the Wheatbelt, the Goldfields, the South West and the Great Southern.
