Language services

Western Australia is the most culturally diverse state in Australia, with Aboriginal people, migrants and refugees accounting for nearly 30 per cent of the population. While the majority of Aboriginal people and migrants can communicate fluently in English, for some, poor communication in English can be a significant barrier to accessing services provided by Western Australia’s first class health system. People who are Deaf or hard of hearing may also need language assistance to effectively communicate with Health Service Providers (HSP).
