Emergency and immediate referrals
Referral to Emergency:
Immediately contact on-call registrar to arrange an urgent (within 7 days) ophthalmology assessment for:
- All central retinal vein occlusions
- Branch retinal vein occlusion with recent decrease in vision

- Painless blurring or loss of vision in eye progressively worsening

- Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) - vision with most recent distance spectacles
- Relevant history, onset and duration of symptoms
- Details and duration of previous treatments
If unable to attach reports, please include relevant information/results in the referral
