All clear for the Upper Swan Estuary

The Department of Health has lifted a recent warning to avoid recreational activities in the Upper Swan Estuary upstream of the Windan Bridge in Claisebrook due to a cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) bloom.

Recent water tests have confirmed that cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) levels at all monitoring sites within the Swan River had returned to levels which mean that swimming, wading, fishing and canoeing recreational activities can now be undertaken safely.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife will continue to monitor and provide advice regarding algal levels in the Swan and Canning Rivers to the Department of Health.
