Transforming WA Healthcare through innovation and technology

The WA Health Hackathon 2023 is an innovation event for data scientists, software developers, domain experts and other stakeholders to work as part of a team to produce innovative solutions, insights to identify solutions that will improve WA's health system.

Hackathon Starts Monday 9 October and the Department of Health is partnering with the WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH) (external site).

Launch: Monday 9 October
Hackathon weekend: Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 October
Finale: Thursday 19 October

Participants will work as part of a team to address 1of 6 challenges that cover a variety of different elements of WA healthcare’s system.

Challenges will be paired with representative synthetic data. This is the first time WA synthetic data is being used for a hackathon event.

The use of synthetic data enables Hackathon teams to develop solutions to real-life problems, without compromising any confidential patient or system information.

Mentors from the Department and wider WA Health system will support hackathon participants during the event with domain knowledge and expertise.
