Improving safety and quality in health care – A strategic plan for action in WA 2024 – 2026

26 February 2024

The Improving safety and quality in health care: a strategic plan for action in WA 2024 – 2026  sets clear goals to provide safer, high-performing and more person-centred health care for all Western Australians.

The plan provides a 3-year blueprint for real system improvement and outlines key priority areas for investment and development.

A key aim of the plan is to embrace the voice of consumers, carers and families through several programs that are centred around people. The plan ensures all those using our health services are treated with respect and experience care that is both culturally safe and equitable.

It places a spotlight on building a safety culture, encouraging staff to feel safe to speak up if they identify a concern, and introduces programs intended to support our workforce to deliver the best possible care.

The plan is part of a larger suite of documents including an operational plan which provides measurables and details on specific programs of work to be delivered.
