International Day of People with Disability 2022

More than 200 people recognised and celebrated the International Day of People with Disability event hosted by the Disability Health Network and North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) at the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research in Nedlands on Wednesday 30 November 2022.

This year’s theme “supported decision-making in health” featured keynote speaker, Dr Piers Gooding, Senior Research Fellow, Melbourne Law School. This was followed with a thought-provoking panel discussion. Panel members included people with lived experience of disability, service providers and health staff who shared their insights and perspectives on supported decision-making.

The updated Hospital Stay Guidelines, NMHS Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2022-2027 (external site) and the inaugural Staff Disability and Allies Network for WA Health staff were launched.
