When does the 2018 program start

The 2018 Graduate program will commence in January 2018.

Applications for the 2018 Program will be open on the following dates:

  • Monday 13 March 2017 - Finance and Business Stream
  • Monday 31 July 2017 – General Corporate, ICT, Workforce Data Analysis
How many positions are available

As a guide, in 2017 there were up to 18 positions. However, additional positions may be added subject to capacity.

How many people usually apply

There are usually more than 350 applications submitted for the program, across all 4 streams.

What training is provided

Through a comprehensive professional development program, Graduate Officers are provided with an opportunity to complete a Diploma of Leadership and Management and improve their skills in a variety of areas including:

  • Project management
  • Facilitating effective stakeholder relationships
  • Leadership and teamwork
  • Communicating with Influence
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Building innovation and managing change

On the job learning and professional development activities will enhance your working knowledge and skills and include regular performance management, coaching and mentoring by senior WA Health staff.

What kind of placement rotations can I expect

Finance and Business: Graduates rotate through three 4-month work placements. Find out more.

Workforce Data Analysis Graduates complete their 12 month work placement within the WA Health Workforce Directorate. Find out more.

How long does the program take

This is a 12-month program.

At the end of the program

If positions are available, graduates may be offered a contract or permanent Level 2 to 3 Public Sector Award (PSA) position or Level 3 to 4 Health Service Union (HSU) Award position pending their successful completion of the program.
