Fiona Stanley Hospital celebrates first year

Wednesday 3 February marked the first anniversary of the opening of the emergency department at Fiona Stanley Hospital, marking it a fully operational health campus.

The busy emergency department has treated over 100,000 patients since it opened, including a record 347 patients in one 24-hour period.

Despite a number of teething issues associated with the bedding down of hospital systems and work flows during commissioning, staff have remained focused on providing safe and efficient care to their patients.

It now regularly receives feedback from people who have been patients at the health campus praising the high quality of care provided.

Fiona Stanley Hospital was the first to be built in Western Australia in more than 50 years and staff have handled an unprecedented demand for the new hospital's services. It is now recognised as a much-valued part of the WA community
